I'm not a sci-fi gal in general, but I adore well-done time travel stuff, and I loved Orson Scott Card's "Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus". Very cool!
I've been on a ridiculously long non-fiction kick, it's just not funny. Some recent reads:
"Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell;
"This is Your Brain on Music" by Daniel J. Levitin;
"Musicophilia" by Oliver Sacks (not started yet)
"A Big Life in Advertising" by Mary Wells Lawrence;
"Hard Times" and "Working" by Studs Terkel
MORE AS I THINK OF THEM! xooxox
I think this link will get you to my reading list!
You should join goodreads and be my friend there!

thanks for passing on "good reads" - i'll definitely check it out!
As you know, I'm a huge fan of Octavia. Did you enjoy the novel?
Like Becky, I'm also on a non-fiction kick. Right now I'm reading "Inquiries into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food, Farms, and Fertility Mattered" by Woody Tasch... It's all about creating a market that values health, environment, community and food security. I love it cuz I just moved back to a rural area and it gives me hope in agriculture as a vehicle for positive change.
I also recently finished "Agenda for a New Economy," by David Korten and "Deep Economy" by Bill McKibben. Guess I've got a one-track mind right now.
Also, t-love, have you ever visited the Goodreads site? It's a social network for sharing reads and reviews with friends. I'm pretty sure you can stream your updates into your blog, but I'm not certain on that. Anyway... seems like something you might enjoy it.
Cheers!
If you are into women sci-fi writers, you should check out Nalo Hopkins' work and Cynthia Kadohata's In the Heart of the Valley of Love. Kadohata is not a sci-fi writer per se, but that novel is interesting.
My current reading list:
Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan (I'm just finally getting to read it. I knew what to expect in terms of what he says about the corn industry and industrial farming, but no one told me what a beautiful writer he is!)
Montessori: The Science Behind the Genius by Angeline Lillard
The Foreign Student by Susan Choi
How to Design and Build Fences and Gate (Great Ortho how-to book)
Mama PhD: Women Write About Motherhood and Academic Life edited by Elrena Evans and Caroline Grant (How could I not read this?)
Marie, I enjoyed Kadohata's The Floating World. I'll check out her other work, too! Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!
I did sign up for good reads, so hopefully I can keep up with your reading list there too! http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2290281-t-love-pdx
